From Driver to Manager to Owner
Edgar Aguiar of Aguiar's Towing and A-Performance Towing
It wasn't a long ago when Edgar Aguiar was an employee working as a tow technician. He recently reflected on his meteoric rise from facility manager to owner, which happened over the last two years.
The owner of both Aguiar's Towing and A-Performance ...... Hesperia, CA. Edgar launched his business venture during great economic challenges. Edgar has proven the had industry knowledge and business savvy and simply needed an opportunity to prove it. In 2010, Edgar was offered shares in the business of Rancho Cucamonga Towing which he managed as an employee. At the same time, the Auto Club had a need to add a small auxiliary to the high desert. Edgar seemed to be the right candidate.
With just few rucks, Edgar began to provide excellent auxiliary services to AAA members in Hesperia and the Cajon Pass in San Bernardino County. Several towing providers in the area were hit hard by the recession and closed their doors; Edgar responded by adding trucks. Edgar opened A-Performance Towing to cover the cities of Phelan and Wrightwood. It has been easy and according to Edgar, "keeping our cost down remains the biggest challenge."
Edgar cites a "tight team" and low turnover as critical to his business success. "Happy employees always give 110%," he said. Driving in a truck from time to time helps me train my technicians and keeps me knowing what is happening."
